The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry (review)

The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry (Harold Fry, #1)The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Harold Fry’s unlikely pilgrimage is, indeed, unlikely. Harold’s personality, as it develops, makes the journey less and less likely. There are echoes of Paul Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress a book that I read (a number of times) many years ago. Rachel Joyce’s attention to detail is something that appeals to me.

I originally gave this book four stars but now that I have read The Love Song of Queenie Hennessy which gives the back-story – and from a different perspective, I feel three stars is adequate! Both books require the reader to suspend their disbelief. Nevertheless, this book is well written, properly edited and I enjoyed it.
